Can any harm arise from accidentally swapping the SDA for the SCL? I'm thinking no, as its just a zero to 5 volt square wave on either. It has 54 digital input/output pins (of which 15 can be used as PWM outputs), 16 analog inputs, 4 UARTs (hardware serial ports), a 16 MHz crystal oscillator, a USB connection, a power jack, an ICSP header, and a reset button. Red are differences, where the functionality has moved on Mega2560 compared to UNO. Green have the same function and position as the Arduino UNO R3. It all works so slick and easy like everything else with the Duemilanove, just not with the Mega 2560 R3.įor fun, I am going to try the other two SDA and SCL pins. Tech Specs Compatibility Suggested Libraries The Arduino Mega 2560 is a microcontroller board based on the ATmega2560. Inspired by Nicks UNO pinout I did a similar one for the Arduino Mega2560 R3. I checked the output on the Mega's I2C pins with an oscilloscope, and there is certainly a 0 to 5v signal coming out of both SCL and SDA on the Mega. I've tried a variety of values of pull up resistors, and also no pull ups, and still get no I2C function on the Mega. Check underneath the board, the 2 pins are labeled down there for the Uno. In the following picture, you’ll see the pinout diagram of Arduino Mega 2560 Rev3. I cant see anything near the AREF pin labled as SDA or SCL. I have another Mega on order, and perhaps it will be the same, or it might work. Ive not used the Mega, but since the same notes occurred with the Uno Rev 3,: 1.0 pinout: added SDA and SCL pins that are near to the AREF pin. When I run any of 3 I2C scanners on my Mega, nothing shows up for the I2C devices. The Arduino MEGA 2560 is designed for projects that require more I/O lines, more sketch memory and more RAM. I now know that the devices, a compass and lcd work perfectly with my Duemilanove. Well the answer depends on a lot of variables. I believe that the 5V regulator is capable of delivering 800mA. Can anyone tell me the maximum current taken by the Arduino Mega 2560 and the Arduino Ethernet Shield. I've been struggling with an otherwise excellent Mega 2560 R3, that for some reason doesn't communicate with any I2C device. I want to power an external wireless and display device from the Megas 5V supply.
